Why is the program on an appointment-only basis?

Because the number of collections and amount of material to be collected is unknown, collections for both recyclable metals and bulk garbage are being done on an appointment-only basis. This allows for a more efficient and organized operation and will minimize the amount of time materials are left at the curb awaiting collection.

When should I put my recyclable metals out for collection?
No earlier than 3 p.m. on the day before your appointment, and no later than 8 a.m. on the day of your appointment.

What do I do if my recyclable metals pick-up was not collected on the scheduled collection day?
Due to fluctuating quantities, there may be a delay in collecting your items. If your items are not collected by the end of the next working day after your scheduled collection day, please contact us at 311 for further information.

Is there any other way to dispose of my recyclable metals? Can I do it on my own?
Yes. Recyclable metals and other waste may be taken to the Residential Drop-Off Facility at Robin Hood Bay - to the right, just inside the entrance to the Robin Hood Bay Waste Management Facility at 340 East White Hills Road. This facility is open Tuesday to Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. There is no charge for the disposal of any waste at the Residential Drop-off.

What happens if I want to cancel my appointment, or forget?
You may cancel your collection at any time with no penalty. If you do not cancel your appointment and simply neglect to place your items at the curb on the day of your pick up, a fee of $10.00 will apply.
