Tipping Fees & Permits

Commercial and municipal waste haulers must first apply for a permit before any waste can be dumped or materials can be recycled at the Robin Hood Bay Waste Management Facility.

Haulers can apply and pay for permits at the St. John’s Access Service Centre on the first floor of City Hall, 34 New Gower Street in St. John’s. A copy of the vehicle registration, lease or rental agreement will be required to obtain a vehicle permit. The name of the entity on this document will be the account name used for invoicing purposes.

Permits cost $25 per year and must be affixed to the driver’s side door of the vehicle that will be bringing waste to Robin Hood Bay. Permits are non-transferable and are valid for one year from the date of issue. Defaced or unreadable permit stickers must be replaced. If it is unreadable due to fading it will be replaced free of charge, otherwise the replacement cost will be incurred by the waste hauler.

Permit renewals and Robin Hood Bay account balances can be paid by VISA 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by calling 311. Only vehicles with accounts in good standing will be allowed access to the Robin Hood Bay Waste Management Facility.

Tipping fees for waste disposal at Robin Hood Bay are $67.60 per tonne for most waste types including garbage. Tipping fees for source separated recyclables is $20 per tonne.

Tipping fees for all waste types are subject to change each year on April 1st.
